WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS
PRESTON
Preston created a 2D animation of a ball bouncing for his Digital Media Arts class. He used a program called Flipbook to create it and learned a lot about the software. He really enjoyed making 2D animation and thinks it would so fun to be able to take a 3D animation class in the future.
MARISSA
Marissa read the book "Alas Babylon" for her Georgics class this week and participated in the book discussion in class. It was an intense book, but one we both really enjoyed reading. She also participated in the book discussion in class. She also participated in a home simulation as part of her Georgics class. The pretend setup was that there had been a big earthquake and that power lines were down, natural gas was not available, there was no running water, grocery stores had been emptied, and everything had closed down. Our family spent 48 hours surviving in our home without running water, electricity and heat. It was a really good experience. Marissa is looking forward to discussing the home simulation next week in class.
CALEB
Caleb read "Inside Out and Back Again" for his Ninja Scholars class. It was such an interesting book about a family from Saigon who fled during the Vietnam War and eventually ended up in Georgia. It was told all in prose and journal format. Caleb really liked the story and learned so much about the hardships that a family who were refugees would face as they tried to learn the language, culture, and find shelter and employment.
