WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS

PRESTON

Preston read "The Marvelous Land of Snergs" with his younger brother this week.  It is the book that inspired "The Hobbit," which is one of Preston's favorite books ever.  Preston and Caleb both enjoyed the book, and it was such a fun activity for him to read together.  However, they both agreed it was not nearly as good as "The Hobbit."  I do think our next family read-aloud after we finish the Harry Potter series will be "The Hobbit."  

MARISSA

Marissa had her first competition for clogging this week.  It was a competition in Idaho so we spent three days in Pocatello.  She competed in 4 advanced all around solos (traditional, line, show, percussion), an advanced freestyle solo, and two advanced team dances.  She did such a great job!  She earned "Master Soloist," which means she earned 1st in all 5 solos.  She was also called up for a dance off, which means she earned "high gold" and participates in a dance off of her freestyle dance with other advanced clogging dancers in her age range.  Her coaches were AMAZED since she has only been clogging for a year and a half and many of her teammates have been trying to get to a dance off for YEARS.  She has a natural talent for clogging, but also is very determined.  It was so much fun watching her dance! 

CALEB

Caleb finished reading "The Marvelous Land of Snergs" for his Ninja Scholars class.  The whole family joined in for this read-aloud.  It was the book that inspired "The Hobbit."  It was a fun read and he enjoyed it.  But everyone in the family agreed it wasn't nearly as good as actually reading "The Hobbit."
