April 15 - 19

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS

PRESTON

Preston finished his language arts book and his handwriting.  Preston wanted to work more on his cursive this year so he decided to have a review year to make sure he could read and write really well in cursive.  He did such a great job!  He's also really excited to start a new level for language arts.  His plan is to finish two levels between now and next spring.

MARISSA

Marissa wrote a paper for her Heroes class this week.  It was an opinion paper on whether or not we should have dropped the atomic bomb.  It's a difficult question and I think Marissa did a great job with the subject.

She also watched a movie for her Heroes class.  It's called "Monuments Men" and was all about a group of individuals asked to go retrieve and protect historical art from being destroyed during WWII.  It was so good!  Marissa loved it!

CALEB

Caleb finished reading the book "Milton Hershey" for his Ninja Scholars class.  He loved the book discussion and trivia game.  He retains so much of what he reads and is a great asset on his team for book discussion trivia questions.  What a fun book!

OTHER

HARRY POTTER

We have been reading Harry Potter as a family.  We finished the first three books in two weeks (and then got to watch the movies together on Friday night).  It was so much fun!  We are going to add in more read aloud time as a family because we all enjoyed it so much!
