March 16 - 20

Wow!  What a week!  We managed to have a fairly normal week overall despite not being able to play with friends anymore and an earthquake that took us off guard (especially mom).  We are now working on finding a new normal and adjusting the flow of our day since our older brother (who is a sophomore in high school and attends UMA is now at home doing his schoolwork during the day with us.  We've had to juggle who gets the computer and when to make things flow, but we are finding a new rhythm.

MATH

Preston:
Preston completed four lessons on the Math Seeds app this week.  He is really enjoying it so we are taking a little break from his workbook and doing some online learning for math.

Marissa:
Marissa completed four lessons on the Math Seeds app this week.  She actually really likes her math workbook so she is continuing to do a couple lessons in her math book as she sees fit.

Caleb:
Caleb LOVES the Math Seeds app!  He would stay on there all day if I let him.  He did at least one lesson every single day and has already passed his sister's level on the app.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Preston:
Preston completed four assignments in his language arts book this week.  He also completed three modules in TTRS and 30 minutes of reading every day.

Marissa:
Marissa completed four assignments in her language arts book this week.  She also completed two modules in TTRS and 20 minutes of reading every day.

Caleb:
Caleb completed three lessons in his “Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons” book.  He is also starting to read "Bob" books and is getting excited about learning to read even better.

AMERICAN HISTORY

Preston, Marissa & Caleb:
The kids have been practicing singing the "Preamble" for their class.  They also have been watching Social Studies videos on BrainPop.  Last week they watched a video about the Titanic.

ENTREPRENUER (The Art of Business)

Preston, Marissa & Caleb:
We have been working on art at home to keep the kids growing and learning about their class.  Last week they painted and Preston drew a picture of the alien from Toy Story.  Marissa decided she wanted to try painting rocks.  She thinks she might want to sell them at the fair in addition to her homemade paper notebooks.  We'll see how it goes.  It's fun to experiment with different things.

OPTIONAL (Karate, Tumbling, Musikgarten)

Preston:
There was no karate.  Instead, Preston played basketball, rode his bike and scooter and jumped on the trampoline for PE.

Marissa:
No tumbling for Marissa.  Instead, Marissa rode her bike and scooter and jumped on the trampoline.  She continues practicing her tumbling moves on the trampoline.

Caleb:
Caleb could not attend his Musikgarten class, but we listened to the CD of music for this semester and practiced singing and dancing to the songs.

OTHER
It's been fun to slow down and learn through play a little bit more the past couple of weeks.  Hopefully that continues!
