March 27 - 31

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS

PRESTON

Preston read "Alas Babylon" for his Georgics class.  He really liked the book a lot.  He found out in class that they were doing a simulation for class.  They learned there had been an earthquake.  Their home was safe, but there was no electricity or water.  Our family spent 48 hours going without electricity and water to see how it would be in a real emergency.  We learned a lot! 

MARISSA

Marissa is in full swing with her Shakespeare class.  She is Amynta, the servant to Adriana, in "Comedy of Errors" but is already working on memorizing her lines. 

She is also working on her lines, blocking and singing for Aladdin kids!  Her performances are April 13-15.  It's going to be a busy spring with lots of rehearsals and performances. 

CALEB

Caleb has been working on his language arts and handwriting.  He's also been reading lots of Sophie Mouse books.  He loves them! 

March 20 - 24

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS

PRESTON

Preston chose to go to St. George for his birthday week.  We had a blast!  We listened to "The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle" on our drive down.  Preston also finished reading "The Bomb" for his Heroes class on our trip. 

His favorite thing was the trampoline park on his birthday.  He also loved the Dinosaur Museum and visiting great grandma and eating dinner with her every night. 

MARISSA

Marissa finished reading "Justin Morgan Had a Horse."  She loved it and told the whole family they should read it.  

Marissa's favorite part about St. George was hiking and swimming.  We got lots of PE time in and moved our bodies a lot.

CALEB

Caleb chose to go to the St. George Children's Museum while we were on vacation.  The kids had so much fun exploring.  

March 13 - 17

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS

PRESTON

Preston built a Harry Potter Lego set this week.  He loved it posted himself building it live on his YouTube channel.  He had a great birthday this week and is now 16 years old!  Hard to believe.  He also made a stop motion video for his brother's birthday (which is also in March).  He could not believe that his film teacher from last year commented on the video telling him what a great job he had done.  Pretty awesome! 

MARISSA

Marissa finished reading "The Great Little Madison" for her Key of Liberty class.  She enjoyed it and loved the book discussion.  

She has also been memorizing a ton.  She had to memorize quotes for her Key of Liberty class, and is also working on memorizing lines for her role as Jasmine in Aladdin Kids.  

CALEB

Caleb had his belt test for karate and is now a yellow belt.  He worked really hard to learn all the self defense moves, katas and his weapons kata with his bow staff.  He is excited to learn and grow in karate like his big brother, Preston!

OTHER

DINOSAURS

Grandma brought a dinosaur poster from Washington DC this week.  She also brought some cool books about the Civil War that we are planning to read together.  Marissa and Caleb got so excited about the dinosaur poster that they started a dino book.  They are planning to learn about one dinosaur every day and put it in their dinosaur field guide.  

March 6 - 10

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS

PRESTON

Preston had the opportunity to participate in the "Marketplace" for his Georgics class.  He decided to make protein bites and called them "Preston's Protein Bites."  He made $46 during the hour and a half and sold out of everything he had made.  He learned a lot about running a business and competition from the other students in the class.  

MARISSA

Marissa auditioned for her Shakespeare play.  She memorized a Soliloquy from Romeo and Juliet that was 17 lines long.  She did a great job memorizing and during her audition.

CALEB

Caleb has been working a lot on handwriting, language arts and reading.  He also has been doing a little art history with his language arts and is improving a lot.  Fine motor skills have been quite a challenge for him so he is proud of all his hard work.
